The Truth about Enlightenment

Many spiritualists like to give their own definition about enlightenment. Enlightenment comes when you realise that you are pure consciousness, that you are not the “self-image” you have of yourself, nor your thoughts or even your body. Because it’s fully what you already are, you cannot “do” anything to get there, except from getting rid of the programming that society does to you day after day.
The reason it is so challenging to awaken to our original infinite nature because we have been told since birth that we are our body and the image we have of ourselves in our mind.
You don’t need for your thoughts to stop to awaken, you just need to stop identifying with them. But this is not so easy because most of us have spent a lifetime doing just that. The key is to observe them, to silently watch them. Get some space between you and the arising thought and notice that you are present before the thought, during the thought, and after the thought, so the thought cannot be you.

As many of you already know there is good in the bad and bad in the good in every situation. The majority of people believe that ego is only negative but the ego is necessary for the body’s survival and is what tells us when to run from danger or defend ourselves. However, although we rarely find ourselves in actual physical life or death situations, the ego approaches our psychological disturbances with this same fight or flight response. If someone insults us or cuts us off in traffic, the ego kicks in and feels threatened. Enlightenment doesn't mean you will need be free of the ego. The key is to see that we are not our ego. We can't get rid of it because it's a part of ourselves. By observing it as it gets triggered we can start to get some space between us and it. The more space, the less pull it has over us. Pretty soon the ego begins to feel like a spoiled child who is always whining and complaining because it wants what it wants when it wants it. Rather than get angry at “the child,” we can begin to love it and assure it that it’s safe. By not taking our ego so seriously, we literally begin to lighten up.

When one is awakened, it’s not that only “positive” things come your way, rather it’s that you stop labelling things as positive or negative because all is seen as Life unfolding exactly however it unfolds. You begin to go with the flow. This is called ''the law of correspondence''. You attract what you are and if there is something in you that you can't realise it exists, the universe finds ways to help you identify it. grow and expand by mirroring your attitude through another person.

To be awakened means to be fully authentic with the present moment, however it appears. Because the enlightened being is not living in the past or future, they fully embrace whatever thoughts, feelings, sensations or emotions are presently arising. So, for example, if awakened people see an animal being abused by another human being, they may indeed cry at seeing such an unconscious act. It’s important to realise that you cannot locate consciousness, you can only be it. With meditation and yoga, you activate parts of your DNA that are in the 'sleep mode' and when you become awakened, you see the world differently, as it really is. Misleading concepts that focus on reductive materialism have kept us in the dark about the true nature of the human soul and its integral part in our evolution as spiritual beings. A recent survey says that many additional realms exist beyond the earth and in other dimensions of time and space. As spiritual beings, we can easily access these places by lucid dreaming and in deep meditative levels.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”

A Journey to Realisation

The previous week I went to England for my graduation ceremony. It was a journey with a lot of lessons to learn and many memories to remember.
In this path of awakening, we learn to see ourselves with a different perspective and we come to realise that the world around us is the best teacher we have in order to grow and expand spiritually.

During my stay, I was faced with a lot of disappointments, delays and a 'bad luck'. I had a few good moments as well as I had the opportunity to shop the things I planned, to meet new people and to help people in need. I observed my body and soul while walking the streets of London and I became aware of improvements I have to make in my daily routine in order to be healthy and wobble free, such as more exercise and time away from any distractions like laptops and mobile phones.

We all need a change once in a while to keep our balance in life. Four years away from home weren't enough for me to get to know myself. I needed a break for a few months in my home country, Cyprus and then a come back to the place where I studied (even for a few days). My mind was clear and focused this time and I knew exactly what I wanted. So the universe aligned me with situations and people in order to strengthened me and give me lessons. Was ready for a change. If we are open and receptive to the universe, only then we experience change and we see situations as opportunities for expanding.

Many people say that you make the best friendships in places you've never thought you could. This is so true! I met people on the plane, the underground sitting next to me, people in waiting lines and even the toilets! I was walking non stop for 8-10 hours everyday having no time to eat. I pushed myself to the limits and at the same time I was enjoying it because I had the chance to do something different, something to feed my soul. I had the chance to observe my attitude towards people around me and I found myself making mistakes without realising it.What I did for this was to I take notes of what I don't like in me in order to change it and become a better person.

**Friendly reminder: If you don't like something in you or in another person's attitude remember that only YOU are responsible about it even if you think you aren't. There are mirrors all around you! Observe and act accordingly. Maybe you don't realise it but your subconscious mind holds hundreds of thousands of memories from your early age and it continues to do it until you leave this body. In order to change your way of thinking and in general to obtain a new lifestyle, you will have to star doing different things in your daily routine. Albert Einstein said: ''you can't do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.''

For a start, try to follow the steps below and take notes to track your progress:

Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using words to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your words in the direction of truth and love.

Don’t Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.Just observe and if you find something in them you don't like, try to thing if you do it too without realising it.
Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. Also don't be afraid to express your opinion if you see something that is unfair -for example a person who treats his child wrong or harms mother nature. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life and help others to follow your example.
Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.” - Miguel Ruiz
The 10 areas that you will be working on are:
  1. Clearing Unresolved Matters
  2. Restoring Your Integrity
  3. Getting All of Your Needs Met
  4. Extending Your Boundaries
  5. Raising Your Personal Standards
  6. Eliminating What You Are Tolerating
  7. Coming from Positives
  8. Resolving Key Family Relationships
  9. Developing A Supportive Community
  10. Re-orienting Around Your Core Values

The Fear of Change

Many people would agree that resistance is part of the human condition. If it was easy to change, we would all be enlightened masters at this point. Why do people want change only in imagination and never in action? How do you get from wanting to want to change to actually change? You must first deal with the resistance right?
Many of you might never think think this way because you think there is no correlation between love of one self and change. Be honest with yourself, nobody is watching!Do you really love yourself? Do you treat your body and soul with love? Do you respect your existence as well as other people and animals around you? If yes this means you do have a healthy lifestyle and you don't procrastinate therefore you are more willing to change. But..if not then what should you do?
Firstly you have to realise that as humans we are all full of fears. The whole system manipulated us, changed our beliefs in order to have a fear-based attitude. It's easier for them to control us this way and sell their products to us. Just ask yourself this question: if fear was not an option, how would my life be? No thing can stop you except yourself from having and doing what you want! I you really want it, you will find 1000 ways to make it work instead of focusing on fear and find 1000 excuses why it might doesn't.
Why can only change when we truly accept and love ourselves, understand our mistakes and REALLY start changing with small steps at a time. When we accept ourselves, other people start appreciating us more and more day by day because we radiate love. Love heals and when we feel loved and accepted by ourselves first then other people around us have no other choice than to love us too because we show them that we value as personalities and we deserve the best. The past doesn't define us anymore! We are not what happened to us! If we chose to live in the present moment and not let our minds control us, then we start changing our reality. We begin to see ourselves through different lens.
Another key of change is to become active! To work on ourselves daily. For example every time you catch yourself procrastinating or come up with an excuse instead of an action, you must immediately fight this ego-based self! You are not this person! You didn't come to this earth to just sit on a chair and do nothing by waisting oxygen...You have a tremendous power within you that can literally change the whole structure of the universe. Governments around the world know all this stuff and hide the truth from us because they want to earn money through us! But if we wake up and say I no longer want to be a prisoner in me, the you'll start thinking out of the box and start expanding and progressing.Everything starts from within! It might seem very simple but if you start doing the things below in a daily basis with no excuses, something magical will start to happen. You will do a quantum leap in perception therefore your vibrations will rise, your health will improve, your conciousness with expand and you will start to feel your our existence not as a stranger in this world that came here out of the blue, but as someone who knows exactly what he\she wants from life.
  • Exercise! Don't find excuses like, I don't have time...there are 24 hours in one day, choose one!
  • Do meditation and yoga
  • Eat clean and try not to harm any animals
  • Be love-act with love. Don't judge people or situations. Even if you don't like something ignore it. Let karma do the job. Include a simple act of love in our day by giving something to someone or a group of people or animals.
  • Have a vision. A goal. Plan your life by pen and paper and go after your dreams like your whole life depends on them. Because it does.
  • Be more organised. Clean your house, keep your space clean because the place you live in says a lot about yourself. Pay attention o the details.
  • As I said above, the most important aspect you should focus on are your excuses. You have to observe your attitude like a third person does and start correcting yourself like you do with a little child. You have to get rid of anything that creates phobias and excuses. You must stop the negative mind and take responsibility of our thoughts.
  • Study! Read books about psychology, spirituality, watch videos that give your soul reasons to shine! If you need any suggestions here they are:

Preparing for change requires a lot of work because we have to learn new processes, systems, and new ways of doing things. But it worths it. We really don’t know how things are going to go after the changes are put in place because we have to step our of the comfort zones and take risks but we must learn to have faith in ourselves and in the universe n order to grow. Everything we do is a chance to grow and expand! Always try to see the positives in life even if the situation you are at that moment seems endless and full of negativity.
Remember that you create your world around you with your thoughts and that situations you are in are mirrors for you in order to see the meaning behind the curtain.

In order to change old programming we have to re-evaluate what works for us and what doesn't. To change completely our old beliefs means to change our subconscious mind by focusing on the new self that we want to create. By being ready to make actions means to get rid of old. Anything that comes up in your mind like clothes, items, photographs and anything that might remind us of the past. Even friends who no longer meet your desires.
